Yes, I have been working in health and fitness for 15 years. I am, and always have been truly passionate about the industry – but it wasn’t always easy to walk the walk. I understand all too well how it feels to struggle with maintaining a healthy and nutritious lifestyle. It took many years for me to finally get it right.
Growing up I was a head-strong, outgoing and active girl. I loved being outdoors and dance was my thing. My love for food, sweets and junk food also started young. Although I didn’t know it at the time, I was using food as a way to occupy myself and a tool to help me feel better. Of course, because I was young and active it was not an obvious problem.
As I got older and drifted away from dance. Inevitably life became more complex and I found myself turning to food when I was lonely or stressed. My activity level dropped and before I knew it I started to feel the effects that my lifestyle and food choices had on my energy levels and body.
My first exposure to living a healthier lifestyle happened when I began working at a health food and vitamin store. I was excited to to learn about the variety of new food choices that existed and eagerly devoured books about health and supplements. As fast as I could learn about something I would share the information with customers and soon realized that I was making a difference. My recommendations were really helping them!
With newfound inspiration, I made the decision to learn more about health and fitness and became a certified personal trainer. I discovered a new network of friends and mentors who encouraged me to adopt healthier habits – but it wasn’t so easy for me to put my knowledge into action. It was hard to keep up and I felt pressure to ‘eat perfect’. I would try to ‘eat clean’ all day and then when I would get home at night I would indulge, silently promising myself that tomorrow would be a better day. This created a long cycle of bingeing, yo-yo dieting and falling back into old habits of eating unhealthy foods during times of stress.
I was finally able to conquer my battle with nutrition and eating when I confided in a friend about what I had been experiencing. To my surprise they offered to help coach me and worked with me to change my habits one step at time. This was ultimately my inspiration for creating my business, JenFit.
I want people to know just how powerful and life-changing it can be when you have a good coach to guide you through your journey and help you through the tough times.
You see, life will never be perfect. The time will never be just right. There will always be something that comes up or one more thing on your to-do list. By choosing to start where you are now, you will learn to navigate through all of life’s hurdles and struggles – but this time you’ll be able to learn new methods and approaches which will help you get mentally and physically stronger with each month that passes. Eventually your new habits will become who you are and what you do – and your life will never be the same! You will feel and look better than ever, and the best part will be that the results are here to stay because you were able to truly make lasting change. If I can do it, you can too!
